WHEN TO CHARTER

Cavurali is available for charter year around, but the "season" extends from April through October.  Every month has its own high points and low points, but any time frame within the season can prove to be “the best time" for different folks with different needs.

Spring and early summer dates in late April and May are for those seeking long and balmy days where winds are down, hillsides are green and wildflowers are still in bloom.  The Anatolian Crimson Poppy drenches the hillsides in red. The sun is just right, not too hot.  School and most business' are still in progress, so coves are relatively free of other boats.  Snow capped mountains in the distance adds diversity to the scenery. The downside to May is that water temperatures may still be considered a bit chilly for some folks, averaging around 69F.  For others, it's wonderfully invigorating.

June and September are perhaps two of the nicest months to charter.  Days are long allowing for full sightseeing programs, and waters are warm for swimming.  Dependable Meltem winds pick up in the afternoon allowing good sailing.  Air temperatures are considerably warmer than in May or October, but not excessive, and very comfortable.

The most popular months are July & August.  This is when the sun worshippers are out and about.  Holiday makers and students are on vacation, the season is in full swing.  Days are long and hot, nights are warm, and so is the sea water.  Folks spend a good time of the day swiming and sleeping in the shade, then enjoy the evenings fully until late hours.  Meltem winds are dependable for the afternoons, and it's just a magical time of the year.

October is a great month to sail and travel in Turkey.  The sea temperatures are still quite warm for swimming, and so is the air temperature for being out and about at mid day. Crowds are gone, coves are relatively private. Special fall blossoms of cyclamen, sea squill and ilex are in bloom.  The only downside for sailing in October is the shorter daylight hours, but that is always dealt with earlier starts to the day.
